CoJourno Housekeeping

Clean up your MAM without the risk.

CoJourno Housekeeping finds assets nobody uses, flags them in your MAM where the whole team can see, and waits out a grace period before archiving or deleting anything. You write the rules. You set the limits.

Grace periods before every action

Nothing acts without your rules

A report after every run

Your archive has a hoarding problem.

It keeps everything, because deleting the wrong file feels more dangerous than paying for ten thousand useless ones. So the archive never stops growing, and neither does the storage bill.

Ask any media manager why thousands of dead assets are still sitting in premium storage and you will hear the same honest answer. The fear is rational. It is also quietly draining budgets that could be funding journalism. In every newsroom we have studied, cleaning it up eats the better part of a media manager's day. So we automated the job, and built the brakes in first.

How it works

Six Gambits, each solving a specific problem we've watched newsrooms work around for years. More are in development - our roadmap is shaped by what we see in the field, not by what looks good on a slide.

01

Rules, not scripts

Build skip, archive and delete rules on your own MAM fields. Each condition shows, in plain English, what it would match today.

02

Grace before action

Flags are written into the MAM where your whole team sees them. Nothing is archived or deleted until the grace period you set has passed.

03

Brakes built in

The volume brake halts any run whose rules match an outsized share of your library. Every run is logged and reportable.

Four steps. Every run.

Nothing skipped. Nothing guessed.

Step 1

Archival discovery

Finds what can be archived.

Step 2

Archival execution

Archives it, after the grace period.

Step 3

Deletion discovery

Finds what can go.

Step 4

Deletion execution

Deletes it, after the grace period.

Reversible actions come first. Moving an asset to a colder storage tier can always be undone; removal cannot. So the destructive step sits at the very end of the chain, after everything worth keeping is already secured.

Rules

Rules built on your own fields

Before a single asset is touched, Housekeeping learns your archive. It syncs your metadata fields, option lists and user directory straight from your MAM, so your rules use the vocabulary your newsroom already uses. Skip rules protect what must stay. Archive and delete rules match on the metadata you already keep, such as last-used dates, delivery dates, owners and categories. Combine conditions with AND and OR until the logic matches how your editorial team actually thinks.

Archive cascades keep source material with what was made from it, so the raw interview behind a finished package moves to cold storage with it. Anything attached to a story that has not aired yet is off limits automatically. Schedule runs by day and time, or start one on demand.

Review

Review everything before it happens

Every flagged asset in one place with its grace countdown. Search, filter, unflag in bulk or extend the grace. Want to keep something for good? Set it to Hold and it is out of housekeeping entirely. The decision stays with your team until the clock runs out.

The rule decides. You overrule.

Runs & Reports

Follow every run as it works

Live progress per phase, an activity log per asset, and a stop button that works. When something fails, the report says what happened, what did not happen, and who was notified.

After every run, a report: every file it flagged, the exact rule that fired, and what the run saves you on next month's storage bill. Every file. Every reason.

It makes decisions the way a media manager would, without consuming a media manager's day.

Part of CoJourno

The Housekeeping Gambit, with its own workspace

CoJourno Housekeeping began as a CoJourno Gambit, part of the AI automation and orchestration platform As If Pictures builds for media organisations. It now has its own dedicated workspace for rules, review and runs, and it runs on its own or alongside the other Gambits.

Works inside your MAM

Flags are written into the MAM itself, so the whole team sees the same thing. Fully integrated with Mimir.
